Terrible arm and neck pain is gone

I came to see Dr. Mattingly with pain and numbness due to a work related injury which caused pain in my shoulder and numbness starting from my ring and pinky fingers running all the way up through my arm, shoulder, and neck. I suffered for one month before coming to Dr. Mattingly. I had seen my general practitioner and had a nerve test done. They wanted to perform surgery to remove this pinched nerve. I was taking muscle relaxers; I took one kind for six days and another kind for one month. I was also taking an abundance of Tylenol, switching to Tylenol-3 and eventually Ibuprofen. The pain was so bad that I’d work my scheduled eight hour shift and then come home and lay down on the couch and the kids would do my household chores for me. I would sleep and cry a lot. It hurt just to sit. I had to give up my hobbies that I enjoyed doing like bowling, crocheting and needlepoint.

After just three weeks of adjustments and ultra-sound, the numbness went out of my ring finger and arm. The pain had lessened so much that I quit taking the muscle relaxers and was taking less Tylenol and Ibuprofen. After six weeks of adjustments on my wrist and elbow, my wrist became more flexible. Within one month of adjustments on my neck I had more range of motion. When the pain had lessened I became a happier person, easier to get along with, and could do my daily activities and hobbies. I believe one hundred percent in chiropractic care, because it helped me feel better, function better at work and I didn’t have to have surgery! I even referred my daughter to Dr. Mattingly after she was involved in a car accident. I’d recommend chiropractic care for everyone.

Dr. Mattingly brings hope and relief

I began treatment with Dr. Mattingly because of extreme pain in my shoulder area. I first sought help from my family doctor, but to no avail. Because of the pain, it was very difficult for me to perform my usual activities.

Dr. Mattingly examined me and did x-rays. He found that I had a pinched nerve and a twisted vertebra from an old injury. He began giving me ultra-sound and heat treatments, as well as adjustments. It took several treatments before I noticed that the pain had diminished and that I could begin doing things I did before. Of course, I would like to have had a quick fix, but I realize it can take a while to get improvement in the spinal structure, especially when it has been incorrectly aligned for years.

The alternative to chiropractic care is lots of pain, lots of pain-killers, possible surgery and loss of normal activities. I was able to avoid all of these because of the treatment given to me by Dr. Mattingly. He is a very capable chiropractor as well as a kind and gentle man who gives relief and hope where often there may seem to be very little.

Pain from bone spur is going away

Two years ago Dr. Mattingly treated my left shoulder and fixed the pain I was experiencing at that time. I am a swimmer and will swim for at least 1 hour at a time; so I over use my shoulders sometimes. This has caused a bone spur. I have tried therapy but it doesn’t seem to work. After I stop therapy the pain comes right back. Since Doc got me out of pain before, I decided to come to him when my right shoulder began to hurt. The adjustments have improved my movement a lot since I started coming and I am out of pain.

Treatment relieved pain after cancer surgery

I came in with severe shoulder, neck and back pain. I hadn't been to a chiropractor in about six years. I was in serious need. I had cancer surgery in 2004 on my neck and it was extremely tight! The pains in my neck, shoulder and back really restricted my movements. I had one pressure point therapy session and I feel wonderful. I will be continuing with the therapy to keep those muscles relaxed and range of motion better. Thanks, Dr. Mattingly!

Range of motion is increased

I initiated chiropractic care in January of 1996 and by April my two problems had been corrected. While this may seem to be a long time in receiving chiropractic care, one must consider the problem too.

Problem number one was in my neck. I had numbness and tingling in my left shoulder that would sometimes extend to my left elbow. I had dealt with this problem for over a year until I realized that I had lost much range of motion in my neck. Problem number two was in my lower back. For three months I suffered the loss of range of motion and numbing pain down my left hip and thigh. Both of these health problems were affecting my life. I bowl, golf and work out at a health club. Each week I saw myself slowly becoming less flexible with additional loss of range of motion.

After twenty-eight visits and stretching exercises, my problem are now erased. I realized that it is in my best interest to see Dr. Mattingly once every month to six weeks. I feel that this form of preventative care is far better than waiting a year and a half and suffering pain and loss of motion and activity. I highly recommend the benefits of chiropractic care. The improved health benefits coupled with a higher quality of life speak for themselves. I am highly impressed with chiropractic health care and the flexibility I have gained.

My life is back to normal

For three years or more I have suffered from low back pain that steadily got worse. I also had neck and shoulder tightness as well as carpal tunnel syndrome in my right hand and arm. Working with these conditions was very hard. I am a hair stylist and am on my feet all day. I could not get a good nights sleep. It hurt bad even to roll over. People commented on how I walked and carried myself. Just a full day's work around the house was difficult. I had not seen any doctors before I came to see Dr. Mattingly. It took no more than three weeks to feel better. It was a definite improvement. I do not ever regret seeking Dr. Mattingly. It has made everyday living and activities normal again.

Tremors, fatigue, blurred vision…. all handled

For two and a half years I had been suffering from epileptic seizures, extreme fatigue, tremors, blurred vision, snowy or grainy peripheral vision, daily headaches and extreme migraines. The migraines would last anywhere from an hour to a week and were so bad that I would have to isolate myself in a dark room with no noise, often becoming nauseated from the pain. For over ten years I have suffered from neck and shoulder pain, back and hip pain; all were direct results from two car accidents. Since Thanksgiving of 1998 I had been “eating” Tylenol and Excedrin like candy for headache pain. In January 1999, extreme fatigue hit. I was so tired all the time, I could barely function. And by March of 1999, I experienced my first seizure.

I was missing massive amounts of time from work. My family doctor kept having blood work done; he had me spend a night in Proctor’s “Sleep Lab” to determine if I had a sleep disorder. That turned out negative. My doctor was baffled; he was really at a loss. I was then referred to a neurologist and was put through an EEG and a MRI. Less than two weeks before the results from the EEG came back as positive for seizures, I was fired from my job. The neurologist put me on seizure medication, anti-depressants, migraine medication, etc. He referred me to a seizure specialist. I was eventually able to get off the anti-depressants. I was put in the hospital for seven days for a “Video EEG”, and more blood work (while I was in the hospital and afterwards).

I had also been to other chiropractors periodically over the years, but none gave me more than minor relief until I was encouraged to come see Dr. Mattingly. I was aware of Dr. Mattingly’s practice through his cousin who is a friend from college. However, it was my mother who got me to try “one more chiropractor.” That’s how I began treatment on July 9, 2001. Within three weeks of adjustments from Dr. Mattingly, 85 to 90 percent of my headaches were gone. Most of my tremors were gone. My vision had completely cleared up: no more blurring and no more snowy/grainy peripheral vision. My neck, shoulders, back and hips were also better. The pain was at a minor, tolerable level.

I now look forward to a life without pain, headaches, impaired vision and tremors. Thank you, Dr. Mattingly! I wish I had come to you sooner!

Treatment enabled me to extinguish fire

I came to Dr. Mattingly with severe shoulder and upper arm pain, right hip pain, and atrophy in my right arm. It hurt to walk, work, drive, sleep, and even just lift my arms. I was also overweight as a result of my inactivity due to pain.

Recently, my semi-truck trailer caught fire and I had to take action to control the fire until the fire department arrived. As I ran all over collecting fire extinguishers, water, shovels, snow blowers, anything I could find to try to put the fire out, I realized that by the end of it all I had probably run a mile, lifted a snow blower, water jugs, crawled under the trailer, etc. I was exhausted but still not in any physical pain. I also realize that before treatments, I would have been unable to accomplish what I did and the outcome could have been much worse. Doc and his staff are kind, compassionate people that truly care, and my quality of life is greatly improved as a result.

Sincerely,

B.

Able to be active again

I started my treatment with Dr. Mattingly in December 2005. When I came to visit I could barely move my neck, shoulders and lower back. The pain made my life excruciating. I couldn't bend over, I couldn't raise my arm over my head and I was miserable all the time. It became virtually impossible to do my job and I was in trouble. I started treatments with Dr. Mattingly and a year later I'm able to travel, hike and perform any activity I wish. I have my full mobility back finally without pain and I'm now active in yoga once a week and use the gym up to five times per week. I'd recommend Dr. Mattingly if you have pain that needs to be fixed without the use of drugs and if you want to feel good every day when you get out of bed. Thanks, Dr. Mattingly!
